“Catracho” is what Hondurans call themselves, and the menu says it out loud: a McMuffin Catracho built with refried beans, a Desayuno Catracho breakfast plate, banana oatmeal in the banana republic that coined the term, a toasted sandwich made with loroco flowers, and a McCafé that pours horchata — including an iced coffee horchata — beside the Café Catracho house roast. No other McDonald’s menu wears its nationality this proudly.
Honduras shares its platform with El Salvador’s menu (same franchise group, same Antojos category, same Gourmet Creations), but the localizations diverge: where El Salvador goes Salvadoreño, Honduras goes Catracho, and the McCafé is the most localized counter in the pair. McCafé: the most Honduran counter in the chain
Three things on this McCafé board exist nowhere else in this site’s coverage: horchata (and an iced coffee horchata, which is inspired), Café Catracho as the house roast, and pastel de elote — corn cake — in the dessert case beside the cheesecakes. Add the McFizz sodas, six frappé flavors, chai lines and a chocolate with marshmallows, and this is the McCafé that best argues the counter should localize everywhere.

What does ‘Catracho’ mean on the menu?
It’s the Hondurans’ own name for themselves — so the McMuffin Catracho and Desayuno Catracho are literally the ‘Honduran McMuffin’ and ‘Honduran breakfast’: refried beans, plantains, cream and tortilla doing the localizing.
